Sipping café con leche at a winery in the Ribera del Duero region of Spain

Greetings! My name’s Danielle and I’m the captain of this ship. I’m here, as you are I hope, to talk about food.

I created this blog to tell stories, especially the stories that are forgotten or hard to find (to see how this relates to the name Dandelion Greens, check out my first post here). I want to tell you about the food I eat as a curious and perpetually hungry gastro-traveler. I want to share what I know about our food system, the processes that bring our food from field to fork, and the people involved every step of the way.

There’s a lot to unpack, and the stories aren’t always warm and fuzzy. But on a hopeful note, there’s also an expansive web of compassionate producers, thoughtful consumers, and food visionaries all working towards a more equitable and robust food system. The world of food is a fascinating and dynamic place, full of challenges and rewards, and there is so much work to be done that it’s hard to know where to begin. I hope this blog will help me find my place in that world.

Thanks for joining me,

Danielle Jacques (food eater, lover, and writer now, I guess)
