Greetings! My name’s Danielle and I’m the captain of this ship. I’m a full-time cheesemonger and part-time graduate student in the Gastronomy program at Boston University. I’ve spent most of my adult life pursuing food in some capacity. I’ve studied where it comes from, how it’s produced, how it gets from here to there, who gets to enjoy it, how it tastes, and what it all means. This pursuit has taken me from my family’s dairy farm in rural Maine to Cuba and Bulgaria and back again.
Dandelion Greens is a home for my writings about food, in all its forms. I write about history, culture, politics, things that make me happy, things that make me angry, things I deeply respect, and things I want to change. I write about my travels, about books I’ve read that changed my life, about meals I’ve made and shared and the stories behind them.
